Tracfone Newz: Pink c139 and ShopKo

Two interesting things...

First off, when you're in Tracfone's online store, change the tech= part of the web address to GSM6 (from CO, GSM4 or GSM5) and reload the page. You'll get, though out of stock, the Motorola c139 for $15, the Motorola v170 for $40...and a pink Motorola c139 for $15! Again, these phones are out of stock and who knows what carrier's SIM they'd be shipped with (Dobson CellularOne maybe? SunCom?). But the pink c139 is interesting...

Second, ShopKo is selling Tracfones at sweet prices until the 21st of this month. You may even be able to have them ship the phone to you if you're out of area, or out of state...here are the phones...and yes, they run from $15 to $20 in discounts or are just plain available when they usually aren't...and yes, they're all SingleRate...

CDMA
LG 3280 - $28.88
Nokia 2126i - $14.88

GSM
Nokia 1112 - $18.88
Nokia 2600 - $18.88

Sounds nice and cheap from here...especially the CDMA phones...$15 and $20 less than retail isn't bad. And the Nokia 2126i is a solid phone...cheap per minute and per text, too, with the $50 double-minute card.

I was wondering if older CDMA tracfones can be transformed into single rate phones like the LG 3280 or Nokia 2126i...I have a Moto V60 and Nokia 2126, do you think tracfone can send newer stuff to these older tracfones to convert or update it to a single rate phone, or does that have to be done when the phone is made?...thank you.

I've heard of Rapid Refill being enabled on the phone before, and I'm thinking it *can* be done. But the big question is *will* it be done, to which the answer is probably no.

Your reply to my question above is exactly what I was thinking also...Tracfone sent my Moto V60 the new program for rapid refill, that's why I thought they could do the same with the "single rate" technology...If they can do this, I'd wish they would, at least to my Moto V60, cause I really like this phone...Thanks for your input.
